How Business Landline Texting Works
Until recently, landline, VoIP, and toll-free phone numbers couldn't text. Now they can have true two-way text conversations with business-class tools.
Check eligibility
Most business landline, VoIP, and toll-free telephone numbers can be activated with TextBox. Mobile numbers cannot — because they are already text-enabled.
Verify ownership
If your number is eligible, we verify that your business owns it. The simplest way: we call you at the number and send an electronic Letter of Authorization for permission to activate.
Start texting
Once verified, activating your number is a simple process that only takes minutes. Send and receive texts from any browser, computer, tablet, or smartphone.
*Note: This service does not work for website verification codes or two-factor authentication (2FA) codes.
Same number. Separate networks.
Although the number is the same (think of it as an address), the text and voice networks are 100% separate. Your voice services and equipment operate as they always have — your voice providers don't even know, or care, that your number is also part of the text network.
If your business landline, VoIP, or toll-free number is eligible, the next step is to verify ownership. The simplest way is for us to call you at the number to confirm it's yours and send an electronic Letter of Authorization to activate.
